About us- Personal profile

Martyn served a full Army career with the Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery, his final post being the Chief Equitation Instructor.  His resulting in-depth knowledge of the mechanics and psychology of human and equine students, and his ability to get the best out of them, is now being put to good use at Woodside Farm.

Drawing from his own experience of injury Martyn has developed a unique approach to the ‘Rebalancing’ of Horse and Rider. This applies the principles of core stability for the rider to develop an effective and independent seat and also exercises to encourage the horse to find and maintain it’s own balance.  This approach has been applied at all levels of horses with great successes along the way from happy hackers to international competition horses.

Martyn is also BHSAI (regd) and a qualified Flair & WOW saddle fitter something he has found to be very influential on the age old problem of poorly fitting saddles. He has found that the appropriate use of these saddles can considerably influence the way of going of the horse and rider.

This has proven particularly useful in the process of rehabilitating horses. He has also had considerable success utilising subtle changes to the saddle to correct otherwise irresolvable rider imbalances.

Please feel free to contact Martyn direct to discuss any matters relating to his unique approach on 07894 629 181 or by email.
